What is the difference between stamped concrete and interlocks?
Which one should you choose in your next project?
I came across a video on Instagram of mason carrying out stamped concrete floor, I was very surprised that a lot of people thought he was doing that because he couldn’t afford interlocks😅
They called it “Low budget interlocks”.
That made me realize that a lot of people out there do not what stamped concrete floor is.
Basically, this post is to show the difference between the two and possibly convince you on what you use on your next project
CONCRETE STAMPED FLOOR
A stamped concrete floor is a type of decorative concrete floor that is created by pouring fresh concrete mixture over levelled ground and pressed with stamping mats or decorative tools with different patterns before the concrete fully hardens. Stamped floor can replicate the look of rocks, wood and other natural materials depending on the type of stamping mats used. Concrete stamped floor requires low maintenance if properly installed and it can be customized according to the client’s preferences, but it requires professional installation for the best results.

INTERLOCKS
Interlock floors are made by fitting together interlock bricks and pavers specially designed to key and fit into each other. These interlock pavers are usually stable and strong without the need for concrete to bind them together. Interlocks are easy to install and very easy to transport as they come in small pieces, unlike Stamped floor that requires professional installation. They are also versatile in use and can be used in any outdoor space and homes.

Which one should you install for your next project?
Both Interlock and concrete stamped floor comes with their Pros and Cons. Factors like, cost, durability,Maintenance,Aesthetics, comfort, Location and Availability of Materials must be considered before taking the decision. It is therefore important to consult a professional before you make this decision on your own.
