As we go through our daily lives,the need to relocate or change a place of residence might arise. You may need to get a new apartment to get closer to family,when you get a new job or to get into a school catchment area. What ever the reason might be,these are the few things you should be looking out for when renting a new apartment;
1. Check for termite colonies around the property; Although termites are known to be helpful to the ecosystem,we all know how destructive termites can be to a building. The closer a termite colony is to the property more likely it is that your property will get attacked by termites.
2. Check for rising dampness from outside the building; Rising dampness occurs when water from the ground rises above the foundation level as a result of capillary action.You should check out for early signs of rising dampness because it very like to cause a lot of damages to the fabric of the house.
3. Inspect the building for cracks; Consistent cracks in a building might be as a result of error from the foundation,this could cause a lot of problems for a new occupant in the building.
4. Inspect the building for leakages; Make sure you inspect the roof and kitchen pipes for leakages and make sure it is fixed before you move in.
5. Check all the electrical fittings and exposed wires.
Be sure to look out for the above mentioned points for they are critical when choosing your next place of residence.
